September 17, 2011 - SBHA member Deb Wolfe will bring one of her horses to the Rancho Day Fiesta, Sanches Adobe, Pacifica, CA. August 27, 2011 - SBHA presents Discover The Horse That Discovered America at the Amerind Museum, Dragoon, AZ. August 10, 2011 - SBHA names Maureen Kirk-Detberner of FastWinn Photography as the SBHA Official Photographer. April 30, 2011 - SBHA attends the Queen Creek Horse Expo in Queen Creek, AZ. March 9, 2011 - Governor Jan Brewer has signed an honorary declaration naming the Colonial Spanish Horse as the Arizona’s Heritage Horse! The Colonial Spanish Horse is one of Father Kino’s enduring gifts to Southern Arizona Father Eusebio Francisco Kino, ”The Padre on Horseback”, built 22 missions from Northern Mexico to Arizona and credited much of his success to the stamina of the Colonial Spanish Horse. Father Kino established a breeding program for the Colonial Spanish Horses and many of these horses were brought to Arizona for use by the ranchers, farmers, and Native Americans. February 4. 2011 - Proclamation sent to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer asking to name the Colonial Spanish Horse as the Arizona State Heritage Horse. February 2011 - Please send in your SBHA membership application and 2011 dues! 2011 promises to be a big year for SBHA done be left out. February 5, 2011 - SBHA will have a booth at the CLRC Annual Competitive Trail Ride at the Pima County Park in Catalina, AZ. The booth will open at 10:00 am and close around 4:00 pm. We will have the Arizona State Heritage Horse Petition for signatures, information on SBHA and the horses, sale flyers and Maureen will have some photos and greeting cards for sale.
